Apply now to the first edition of the European Podcast Academy
The European Podcast Academy is the first masterclass on cross-border podcasting, targeting a wide European audience of audio professionals and journalists with a keen interest in audio production.
Running from the 17th to the 21st of March 2025 in Milan, the Academy is designed for professionals in the media field who already have a basic knowledge of audio storytelling and podcasting and will feature a rich program of lessons and workshops.
From Monday to Friday, morning sessions will be dedicated to lectures on conceptualization, production, interview techniques, scriptwriting and promotion & distribution, whereas afternoon sessions will consist of workshops analysing the making-of and behind the scenes of WePod's co-productions (for example: Sea of Rage).
The Academy is organized by Chora Media, the most important Italian podcast company, in cooperation with PRISA Audio (Spain), Università di Roma Tre (Italy), Europod (Belgium), Magyari Jeti (Hungary), Outriders (Poland), News Decoder (France), Press Freedom Foundation (Serbia) and Hiberus (Spain).
The Academy is part of the WePod Project.
Who can apply
The European Podcast Academy is dedicated to all European citizens over 18 years old. Participants should be audio or podcast professionals with some experience in the field, interested in implementing their skills in audio journalism. Digital journalists can also apply if they have evidence of experience in the audio sector.
Indeed, please note that the Academy won’t be a course on podcasting from scratch but a masterclass for professionals who are interested in refining their knowledge. Among the Academy's most desired profiles are authors, journalists, creators, storytellers, sound designers, and producers.
The training program is free of charge and limited to 50 participants, to ensure high quality standards. All European citizens can apply, either as an individual or as a representative of an organization, editorial office, or cultural institution (associations, museums, foundations, or other creative enterprises). Although the courses of the Academy are free of charge, selected candidates will need to take care autonomously of travel and accommodation costs.
Chora Media will take care of food and accommodation costs for n. 5 Ukrainian selected attendees.

Applications received after the deadline, with uncompleted documents and/or information, or whose profile is incompatible with the type of eligible beneficiary will be deemed ineligible.
Each candidate will be evaluated for a maximum of 50 points. The selection will be done by a panel of experts representing the whole WePod consortium of newsrooms.
Starting from January 20th, 2025 all candidates will be notified of the outcome of the selection process by email.
